Samsung launched Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in global market. The company initially introduced only the 4GB RAM variant with just 64GB of storage. Today, a new variant of the Galaxy S8+ sporting 6GB RAM and 128GB storage has been launched in South Korea. However, there is no news about Galaxy S8 having a new variant like the S8+.

Samsung listed the new 128GB variant on its South Korean website today, which was first spotted by Android Headlines. Samsung is also bundling the new DeX station dock with the Galaxy S8+ 6GB, but its still not clear if the offer is with pre-orders or normal purchase. There is no official word about its release in other markets but we can expect it to debut in more markets in coming time. It was also spotted on China FCC earlier, which is another sign that indicated its international arrival.

The new variant will be available on the Samsung’s South Korean website and also on specific carriers in the country. However, the price and availability details of the smartphone are still unknown.

Apart from the storage and RAM, rest of the specifications remain the same. It comes with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED QHD+ (2960 x 1440 pixels) screen with a pixel density of 570ppi. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on the top.

It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset with custom Kyro cores, paired with Adreno 540 GPU. However, there is another variant that is powered by a 10nm Exynos 8895. The existing storage can be expanded via microSD card upto 256GB.

On the camera front, Galaxy S8+ houses a 12MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture that is assisted by a LED flash, OIS, and PDAF. It can record 4K videos at 30fps. The camera on the front is an 8MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture.

It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with Samsung’s custom software layer on the top. The device not only comes with Google Assistant pre-installed but also features a new in-house personal assistant called Bixby.

A non-removable 3500mAh battery with support for fast charging fuels Samsung Galaxy S8. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2G, 3G, 4GLTE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, Samsung DeX etc. The fingerprint sensor is located adjacent to the camera on the back. Other sensors onboard include an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, heart rate, and compass. Other nifty features include Iris scanner and facial recognition.
